I invented a recipe today. Here it is:
After Thanksgiving Casserole
1 bag frozen vegatables
1 tupperware container of leftover mashed potatoes
1 tupperware container of leftover stuffing
1 tupperware container of leftover gravy
1 medium sized bowl of leftover turkey all pulled apart and cut up
1 package instant mashed potatoes
milk
butter
shredded cheddar cheese
salt
pepper
Poke holes in the bag of frozen veggies with a fork. Put them in the microwave for 2 minutes to thaw.
Grease a big casserole dish. Preheat the oven to 350.
In a big bowl, mix together leftover mashed potatoes, leftover stuffing, thawed veggies and turkey. Season to taste.
Realize that this will not be enough for the people you are feeding and make some instant mashed potatoes with milk and butter added.
Put contents of big bowl in casserole dish.
Microwave gravy.
Pour gravy over mixture in casserole dish.
Dollop the instant mashed potatoes over the gravy as some sort of Shepherd's Pie crust. The pretty, dollopy kind of shepherd's pie.
Realize you don't have cheddar cheese, and find mozzerella and American cheese. Shred these and sprinkle over instant mashed potato top.
Put in oven.
After around 20 minutes, decide it's not cooking fast enough and turn the oven up to 375. Wait around for a while and continuously check your casserole, which is probably why it is not cooking fast enough. When the edges are bubbling and the potato cheese top is GBD (golden brown and delicious), it is done!
Also, if you would like to see how a recipe blog is really done, check out how the Pioneer Woman does it.
I guess the point of NaBloPoMo is that (Did anyone else read Fussy today?) when you write every single day, you are bound to force some creativity out. And this blog is supposed to be a creative thing. I don't know if I can even officially call this blog creative, because I just write down my weirdo dreams.
Maybe, when I missed that day, I should have just kept going and still wrote something every day. Maybe I missed the point and I just wanted to belong to something cool. And by cool I mean really-dorky-online-cool. I don't know, is this creative? Maybe i should force myself to do other creative things every day and see what happens. I mean, there's obviously NaNoWriMo, which is way out of my league. Maybe I should start NaCoSoMo. National Cook Something Month. You have to cook, in your own kitchen, at least one thing every day.... and post it on your blog. That would be cool! For a lot of people it would also be easy, but it wouldn't for me. I love cooking, but find that we eat out all of the time. We like to eat out, but it is also easier. NaCoSoMo. I like it. Let's see what else I can come up with...
NaKniFoAHaHoMo - National Knit for a Half Hour Month
NaKniASweMo - National Knit a Sweater Month. (I've never knitted a sweater, it might take me way longer.)
NaMaAZiMo - National Make a Zine Month
NaBaMo - National Baking Month
NaScraAPaMo - National Scrap a Page (a day) Month (again, never scrapped)
NaLeANeCraMo - National Learn a New Craft Month
I could go on and on. But the point is you actually have to do it. I have stamp sets, scrapbooking supplies, card making kits, and inks and pens I've never used. I have yarn I don't have projects for. I have a camera that I only use to take pictures on vacation and at concerts. I collect more supplies and ideas then I will ever actually do. I'm not creative. I'm wanna-be creative.... just like I'm wanna-be organized I suppose.... heh.
